Artificial intelligence as a driver of quality, operational efficiency and time-to-market: this is Unigrà’s approach to innovation, which earned the company the John McCarthy Award at AI Week in Milan. The event, one of the most important in Europe in the industry, hosted over 700 speakers and global artificial intelligence experts last May.
IntelliMix, a winning project
The award, presented by Accenture Italia to Antonio Nicoletti, CIO at Unigrà, is named after the pioneer and founding father of artificial intelligence, and recognises corporate projects that generate tangible value and results through the use of AI. Specifically, the award went to our project called IntelliMix, a web application designed to optimize time and costs in the selection of raw materials used in vegetable oil and fat blends, delivering better responses to customer needs.
The project’s goals
With IntelliMix, the company moved from an approach based on individual experience to a more scientific mix of solutions, reducing inaccuracies and waste. Through the use of artificial intelligence, IntelliMix integrates the activities of different business functions, from R&D and analytical laboratories to IT and Commercial, unifying languages and operational processes to the benefit of quality and speed in both development and process.
The positive impact also extends to traceability, compliance and sustainability, where AI optimises processes with an overall reduction in raw material waste.
IntelliMix unlocks ideas and projects from the creativity and expertise of the company’s talent, addressing a challenge that is crucial for every organisation today: transferring the experience, methodology and knowledge built over the years across different generations.
