Sustainable palm oil brings together food safety, environmental responsibility, and nutritional needs — this was the core message of the talk “Sustainable Palm Oil: Science and Quality for Informed Choices” organized by Assitol (Italian Association of the Oil Industry) and Uiops (Italian Union for Sustainable Palm Oil) at Sigep World 2026. The talk featured the presentation of a scientific paper titled Sustainable Palm Oil: Nutrition and Food Safety, which collects evidence on sustainable palm oil’s impact across nutrition, food safety, and environmental sustainability. Developed by the Uiops Technical Scientific Committee, the document addresses several critical areas: from the latest research on palmitic acid to regulatory developments that have led to a significant reduction in process contaminants in sustainable palm oil.
